September Wandering // 9.30

Greetings wild hearts!

Our September wandering will take place Saturday, September 30, 2023 at 10:00am

We'll be enjoying the shifting tides of the seasons along the beautiful shore of Abalone Cove. One of our favorite trails, it’s described as good for a variety of ability levels and is “surrounded by tide pools and a rocky beach, the trail is unique and full of scenery.” Trailhead Address: 5970 Palos Verdes Dr S, Rancho Palos Verdes, CA 90275

There is a small parking fee, so carpooling is recommended! We'll meet in the lot, transition into a brief centering before our walk, a mindful practice, and dialogue.

This trail is on the Palos Verdes Peninsula and is part of traditional, sacred, and unceded land of the Tongva-Gabrieleño and other Indigenous peoples.

We wander in spaces with layered, complex histories that include abuse and exclusion. We try to be mindful and work towards understanding, renewed relationship & restitution. Learn more here

The nature of our wanderings requires a level of ability that is not a reality for all. We walk as a community, conscious of varying ability and individual need. Regardless of your particular ability, who you are, who you love, your beliefs or understandings, we hope you will feel welcomed, affirmed, embraced, and heard if you wander with us.

Please send an RSVP to payton.hoegh@spiritualityinnature.org so we know who to expect!

Recommended gear: Comfortable shoes, Sun hat, Layers, Sun block, Water and Snacks

Here's what we've been digging into these past few weeks:

Essay - Presence and the Aperture of Wonder – The Marginalian

Poem - Bigger Than You Know by Melissa Hughes  Humana - Obscura Issue #5 (pg 10)

Video - Little Things That Matter - Hasin Farhan

Hope to see you soon.
